CHURCH HISTORY
In the beginning of this century, God sent a great revival in Norway .Many people were saved and some were later out by God as missionaries to many countries, including Swaziland.
Miss Lauren Strand came to Swaziland in 1909 and settled at Luqolweni ( new heaven) in the Shiselweni region and started to preach the gospel there. The Free Evangelical Assemblies was founded by miss Strand in the same year and that time the name of the Free Evangelical Assemblies was registered as the “ Norwegian Free Evangelical Assemblies mission). Its first mission station was named new heaven mission station. In 1965 the name of the church changed d to Free Evangelical Assemblies.
The first pastor of the new heaven mission was Reverend Job Hlatjwako who was succeeded by reverend Timothy Hlatjwako. The work of the New heaven mission continued as Miss Strand continued to plant more churches.
Miss Hilma Hermansen a lady missionary joined hands with Miss Strand in 1911 and started a clinic and a pre-school at New heaven. Many other Missionaries were sent from Norway to assist Miss Strand.
The Ebenezer Mission was established in 1914 by another missionary lady, miss Anna Ostreng, also a Norwegian. In 1922 the Bethany mission was established by miss Julie Bo-ebo, also a missionary. In 1947 Reverend Andreas and Anna Berge stated a clinic at Bethany mission..
In 1948 Reverend and Mrs. John Liland started Elim mission Miankayane. The Manzini Mission was started in in 1977 by Reverend Msibi then pastured the Zakhele local church and planted many other churches through the country.
In 1970 Reverend Msibi was ordained as the first Swazi pastor and was given the chairmanship of the Free Evangelical Assemblies. And led the church until the 1992. He was succeeded by Reverend Douglas F. Khumalo who took the chairmanship until 2001. Reverend Aaron Matsebula took the chairmanship from the year 2001 to date.
The new Heaven Bible College was established in 1974 by Reverend Lars Blystad, a missionary due to increasing work and the need for trained ministers.
